Minneapolis Chiropractor: Is Poor Posture Causing Acid Reflux?
If you’re like thousands of people in and around Minneapolis who are suffering with Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) – or acid reflux – you must be tired of popping dangerous over the counter drugs, chewing chalky pills, elevating your head and chest during sleep, and avoiding certain foods, just to enjoy a few hours of relief from your symptoms.
Unfortunately, some of you also know that even when you do everything right, sometimes that pesky acid makes it way up into your esophagus and throat, causing unnecessary anguish, worry, and stress.
How does posture affect reflux?
While most cases of heartburn, Acid Reflux Disease or GERD are associated with being overweight, pregnant, stressed, or some other underlying health or dietary issues, a great number of Minnesotans have found substantial and permanent relief from acid reflux altogether – without any scary surgery, risky medication, or altered sleeping habits.
The Function of the Stomach
We all know the function of the stomach; to secrete acid and enzymes in order to digest the food we just consumed. Valves or sphincters on the top and bottom of the stomach ensure that undigested food doesn’t seep up into the esophagus or down into the intestines.
All these involuntary actions or functions of the body are regulated by the nervous system. The brain sends nerve energy down the spine, and into the nerves that are responsible for the stomach’s function, the opening and closing of the sphincters, and so on.
Unfortunately however, vital nerve energy isn’t always delivered fully or correctly to the intended organ, causing dysfunction and disease in the body. In the case of the stomach, if nerve energy isn’t delivered abundantly and without interruption, the stomach could secrete a lot more acid, leave food undigested, or cause the sphincters to not fully open or close.
Can Chiropractic Care Correct This Issue?
Again, let me reiterate that most GERD or acid reflux cases are due to a lot of other underlying issues, including obesity, pregnancy, stress, diet, or some other pre-existing health issue. However, if you are still experiencing acid reflux despite addressing those common causes, then corrective chiropractic care may be the answer for you.
Corrective chiropractic care – unlike regular chiropractic care – is a more advanced form of chiropractic. Corrective chiropractic care aims to address the root cause of disease, organ dysfunction, and pain. Let me repeat that… it aims to address the ROOT CAUSE of disease, organ dysfunction, and pain.
While other chiropractors’ main objective is to get people out of immediate neck pain and back pain, those of us practicing corrective chiropractic care – including myself at the Minnesota Chiropractic Center – take a closer look at the spine to ensure proper nerve flow to the entire body.
The Chiropractic BioPhysics Difference
Only a handful of chiropractors across the United States are certified in Chiropractic BioPhysics, the most advanced, most researched, most published, most scientific, and most results-driven corrective chiropractic care technique in the world. At Minnesota Chiropractic Center, I am one of those doctors!
During my initial postural assessment, digital x-rays, and chiropractic and neurological exam, I am able to pinpoint which part the spine could be attributing to your health issues. Then through corrective chiropractic care, spinal remodeling and rehabilitation, we are able to eliminate nerve interference, improve your posture, and allow your organs to heal and function as they were intended.
Within weeks of starting corrective care, a lot of my patients at my Minneapolis chiropractic center report extraordinary changes in their overall health, including diminished symptoms to a point that they start ditching their acid reflux drugs!
While corrective chiropractic care has been shown to help most people within that segment of the population overcome acid reflux disease, it does not mean you shouldn’t continue living a healthy life and maintaining a sensible diet and exercise program.
If you or a loved one in the Minneapolis or St Paul area are needlessly suffering with pain, discomfort, fatigue, or disease – including acid reflux / GERD, please contact our office to find out if you qualify for corrective chiropractic care.
